Icecream :)
Blood Transfusion
|
Sicilian procopio introduced the recipe, blended milk, cream, butter and eggs at Cafe Procope. Until the 13th century people did not know much about ice. Eventually they mastered how to save ice from melting using a mix of salt and ice. This process was expensive so only the rich could afford to do it. King Charles had his own icecream maker and only wanted it to be a royal treat so he bribed the icecream maker to keep the recipe a secret. in 1777 icecream became public to America. (6. "History of Ice Cream")
“The first research into blood transfusion dates back to the 17th Century when British physician William Harvey fully described the circulation and properties of blood in 1628. The first blood transfusions were also attempted around this time, although these were often unsuccessful and proved fatal in humans.” but now they have modified the blood transfusion and now up to 45% of critically ill patients are transfused with blood. (3. "History of Blood Transfusion") Calculators have helped with mathematics and statistics and made it easier for us to calculate things today. (2. "The History of the Calculator") “The mechanical calculator was built on a brass rectangular box, where a set of notched dials {5 or 6 or even 8} moved internal wheels in a way that a full rotation of a wheel caused the wheel at the left to advance one 10th. A pin was used to rotate the dials.” (5. "Mechanical Calculators") “Before the 17th century scientists believed that there was no such thing as the "speed of light". They thought that light could travel any distance in no time at all. Later, several attempts were made to measure that speed: 1638 Galileo: at least 10 times faster than sound 1675 Ole Roemer: 200,000 Km/sec 1728 James Bradley: 301,000 Km/s 1849 Hippolyte Louis Fizeau: 313,300 Km/s 1862 Leon Foucault 299,796 Km/s Today: 299792.458 km/s (9. "History of Speed of Light.") Early 17th century the telescope was invented and left no limit to what the human eye could see. As telescopes improved scientist were able to see further on in the universe. (4.Seventeenth Century Inventions 1600 to 1699) Hans Lippershey invented the first telescope or atleast thats what we think because he was believed to be the first one to apply for a patent for his design but it was rejected. Even though it was rejected the Dutch government payed a lot for a copy of the design. (8. "The First Telescopes") Thomas Savery had the idea and design but Thomas Newcoman actually made it happen and fully functional. They were first majorly used in pumping water from deep mine shafts. They are also known as “fire engines”. They became a primary source of power for factories around Europe. (7. "Baroque Inventions") |
